July 2010 Minutes

Flo,

Good Morning:

We did not bring a meeting to order. There were 14 shooters in attendance. We talked about the 2 day shoot. Everyone who were present wanted us to keep it at 2 days. They wanted to have the time of fellowship and the fun of going out to have pie etc., and everything that we did . It was also brought up that the Hitching rail in Pringle was auctioned off and new owners took over and the food is not very good. So we need to think of another place to go for Dinner that one night. Friday night it would be the Dark Horse in Custer.

Everyone agreed on excepting the Wine Train robberies. We would not like to see them give it to someone else.

Comments on the range were all posutive Thanks to all that made that happen.

We told the group about the day at the VFW to work on the Non-profit paper work.

Greg said the we made around 100. at Calbela's from NRA
Greg was saying about having a fun shoot at his place perhaps the day before a regular shoot

Ernie announced the he and Bonnie would be getting married, Congraduations to them
Feel free to write this how ever you see fit. Thanks Karlene

Thanks Karlene for getting this information for me. I personally want to thank the 8 people that came out and worked on the range on the hot, hot, HOT SAturday. Mark, Latso, John Niemela, Karlene and Dave Burris, Rich and DIane Sieveke and Dave and myself. The range looked great as we left. Diane made enough food for an army so we ate well after the clean up. It would have been great to see more there but hey we "got'er done. Thanks everyone. Flo

BHSA MINUTES FOR JUNE 27, 2010

After a delicious lunch provided by Diane, the meeting was called to order at 12:30 by President Hawkbill Smith.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. Treasure’s report was given by Diane.

2. The next train robbery will be July 3rd at 3:45 and 6:45. We will do the robbery at the depot again. We’re hoping we get it right one of these times. Marshalls showed up too early and the gunfire started before the cash box was taken off the train. Other than that, everyone had a good time and seemed to enjoy the gunfight. Get to the depot by 3 pm for the first robbery.

3. Karlene Burris alias Purdy Woman brought in her awards from the ND/SD State Championship shoot she went to. She was awarded 1st place for BEST DRESSED LADY and 1st place for CLASSIC COWGIRL COSTUME. Congratulation Karlene

4. Rich has looked at the trailer that we were offered. The trailer itself is free. Rich stated that the roof leaks and the floor needs to be replaced. His estimate is $3-4000.00 for repairs. It will take about $1000.00 to move the trailer to the range. It was discussed that this is not our land only rented and if we need to move the range, we would have to move the trailer again. A motion was made, seconded and approved by all in attendance that we not take the trailer.

NEW BUSINESS:

A long discussion was held regarding the information that the Northern Hills Friends of the NRA has disbanded and many of those members are also members of the BHSA and want our club to sponsor the 12 gun raffle they were planning to do at their banquet in September. This was first brought up at the last train robbery and members has many questions. Here is a synopsis of the material covered with Ray Ruff.

1. Before anything else, we need to get non-profit status for the club. Ray will check into how we can get this dose and how long it will take. If the process is quick and we can go forward with the raffle we will take the next step.

2. Travis already has the 12 guns purchased and needs $7,000.00. By selling 120 tickets at $100.00 each we can make a profit of $5000.00. It gives the ticket holder a 1:12 chance of winning.

3. The tickets that have already been sold need to be refunded and resold by our organization. In order for this to work, everyone will need to help sell tickets. Kris Ruff has the list of buyers from last year that can be contacted for sales.

4. It was decided that we would not do the banquet in September as that takes a lot of planning and will use a lot of profit. We will hold the drawing during our Social in March 2011 in Piedmont.

5. Some of the profit would need to be dispersed to organizations such as 4H or youth Trap Club. A committee would be needed to make these decisions.

6. If it takes a long time to get the non-profit status, we will need to wait until next year and Travis will sell the guns he has.

A motion was made, seconded and approved by all in attendance that we go forward to attain non-profit status, and if this is attained in a timely manner, we will go ahead and do the raffle.

A motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn the meeting and start shooting.
