BHSA Minutes 7-15-07

BLACK HILLS SHOOTING ASSOCIATION MINUTES FOR JULY 15, 2007

A big THANK YOU to all who showed up early for clean up day before the shoot. We got a lot done but still have more to do. It was a very hot day and I hope everyone’s scores were just as hot.

Meeting was called to order by President Hawkbill Smith (Rich).

OLD BUSINESS

Treasures Report was read and approved by members present. We need members to turn in their registration for the September Invitational Shoot. Forms were sent with the May newsletter. It was e-mailed or mailed to you. If you need another form, ask Diane.

We are making all of our awards this year. Diane purchased frames for the awards.

We had our first clean up day and got a lot done but still have lot to do. If you need any supplies to finish a project, let Diane know and she will get what we need before our next clean up day.

Thursday August 2nd is the day that the South Dakota tourism crew will be filming the 1880 Train Robbery. The time has been changed to 3:15. Arrive by 2 pm for instructions. Friday August 31st is the Anniversary Train Robbery . There will be two train robberies that day, at 10:15 and 1:15. Let Rich know if you are available.

NEW BUSINESS

Scenarioes for Invitational will be worked on by Jack Myers and Badlands Dave. If you have any ideas, feel free to talk with them. Match Director for the Invitational is Badlands Dave.

A motion was made, seconded and passed by members to discontinue the use of black powder until further notice because of dry conditions and extreme fire danger.

Diane is waiting to hear from the Cattlemen's Club for the menu and prices. She is hoping to have three meal choices. Chief Motel is giving us good rates again this year. $53.00 for single room, $59.00 for 1 king or 2 queen beds. Call to make your reservations. The number to call is 605-673-2318.

If anyone has electric coolers that can be used to hold food items at the shoot, please let Diane or Flo know. Please bring lawn chairs to sit on while you are eating. Badlands Dave will bring the water jugs from the Fire Department. August 19th is our next clean up day before our shoot. We will start at 8:30. We need to finish everything and fine tune for the Invitational.

Bonnie made some nice warning signs to place around the area for visitors to wear hearing and eye protection. Please welcome our newest member- Chuck Luscombe- alias Chuck Wagon. We had a visiting shooter from Maryland join us for the day - Witchita Wayne.

It is time to start thinking of election of officers. According to our by-laws, nominations for officers will be held in August and closed in September to allow for absentee balloting. I will need nominations for officers by September 16th (a shoot day) so ballots can go out with the newsletter and allow enough time for ballots to be returned by our annual meeting in October.
